- Achievements in Ignorance: Cameron to Ash. The guy who was first introduced arriving several days late for a major tournament, thought the Unova League was going to be in Johto, mistook needing seven badges for entry into the league instead of the required eight, got Ash hopelessly lost, forgot his partner in the final gym battle he needed to get into the League, was just barely allowed to register, and showed up for a 6-on-6 with only five, thus leaving behind his sixth Pokémon, which was a Watchog, banked on a single long-shot strategy that paid off, got lucky because his Riolu evolved into Lucario and got him the win over Ash.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: If you pause the episode when Bianca knocks Ash into the fountain, you can see two Tympoles pop up out of the fountain.
- Long Bus Trip: Everyone who participated in the Unova League's Vertress Conference. This includes Bianca, Stephan, Cameron, and Virgil. They have not appeared after this episode. Since Pokemon Journeys travel to every region, it is unclear if these characters will appear at any time in the future.
- Oh, Crap!: Lucario is actually at full health after its evolution from previous episode.
- Took a Level in Badass: Dino. Previously, he only made it to Top 4 in the smaller Club battle. Here, he made it to the finals against Virgil and lost.
- The Unfought: Virgil to Ash, due to him losing to Cameron on the previous round.
