Ash and co. investigate why a Tangrowth has been going around sapping energy from the other forest Pokémon with Absorb and then leaving them Sitrus Berries to restore their energy.

- Blood Knight: Mamoswine wanted to look for Tangrowth to fight it.
- Bullying a Dragon: Pikachu makes fun of Mamoswine for messing up its moves. Keep in mind that Mamoswine is not only larger than Pikachu, but it has the type advantage.
- Gameplay and Story Segregation: Growth is shown as Tangrowth's group of Grass-types shooting green beams at a tree to give it their energy. The move in the games is a pure Status Buff move that only affects the user.
- Jerkass Ball: Pikachu and Piplup making fun of Mamoswine for messing up.
- Kick the Dog: As stated just above, both Pikachu and Piplup laugh at Mamoswine when it messes up during it's training. Dawn also wasn't in the right for yelling at Mamoswine to stop chasing Pikachu and Piplup when it was their fault. Fortunately, Dawn does make it up to Mamoswine later while Ash calls out Pikachu and Piplup for their behavior.
- Tropey, Come Home: Dawn spends some of the episode looking for Mamoswine after it understandably runs away after being heckled by Pikachu and Piplup.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Ash rightfully yells at both Pikachu and Piplup for laughing at Mamoswine when it was trying to train.
