After blasting off, Team Rocket crash-lands on a private boat and see shady people aboard discussing private matters. Elsewhere, their cohorts ride up and unleashed Pidgeot, Noctowl, Swellow, Staraptor, Unfezant, and Talonflame, telling them to go cause destruction. After this is set up, Ash and Misty arrive laboratory of Professor Xavier Ironwood, meeting two assistants in Renee and Wilma before going to the man himself. Ash helps Xavier with a problem about Gouzatile while Misty receives a Transpy for herself. One of the aforementioned birds, Talonflame, makes a sudden appearance that drags Ash and Misty into the plan, and it's made obvious in the next scene with Lyra and Khoury that quick work is being done.

- Go-Getter Girl: Lyra is brimming with eager preparedness, having already set her mind on what she wants to do in Tenla. However, Khoury keeps her grounded in ways that works her patience.
- Ship Tease: There is a moment Lyra appears to flirt with Khoury after feeling up his "strong hands," seemingly building off her epiphany in her time in the DP anime.
- Sigil Spam: The letter of Team Hectic is a golden H embroidered on left part of the uniform vests. The horizontal part of the H is stylized like a scythe-like blade outlined by dark purple.
- Skewed Priorities: The Team Hectic grunts Team Rocket eavesdrop on are Obviously Evil, yet they are more concerned with stealing the Pokemon aboard the ship from them. Granted, Team Rocket aren't exactly nice people themselves sometimes.
