Two days after the defeat of Chrysalis, Flash is now ready to battle Thorax for a second time.
- And the Adventure Continues: As they bid each other farewell, Thorax tells Flash that he can earn his next badge at Baltimare City, which can be best reached by crossing through the Ghastly Gorge. Flash and his friends eagerly accept the challenge and head off as soon as possible.
- Early-Bird Cameo: During a meeting between the Equestria Gym Leaders, several Gym Leaders speak but are not named or properly seen. The biggest hints to any of them are "a gruff male voice", "an elderly female", and "a monotone voice".
- Earn Your Happy Ending: The Gym Battle is a tough match for Flash, but his effort and training ultimately pay off, earning him his second badge.
- Graceful Loser: Even after losing to Flash, Thorax calmly congratulates him on his vitory and gives him the Swarm Badge as a reward for his victory.
- Hoist by His Own Petard:
- Flash and Skyler defeat Movine using the same strategy Thorax used on them in their last battle, getting it to attack his copies from Double Team while the real one hides in the trees and then use a sneak attack while it’s vulnerable.
- Starider and Movine both end up getting stuck in Starider's own Sticky Web.
- Pet the Dog: In a rare moment of respect, Pharynx confesses that he sees actual potential in Flash after he beats his brother.
