The group finally arrives in Applewood City, the hometown of Applejack and Rarity, and quickly meet Granny Smith, Applejack's grandma and the Gym Leader.
- Bear Hug: Sweetie Belle has a bad habit of giving any cute Pokémon giant crushing hugs. She does this to Springer, and later to Rarity's three new Pokémon all at once.
- Shout-Out: While Sweetie Belle is giving Springer a Bear Hug, she screams "He's so fluffy I'm gonna die!"
- The Worf Effect: Granny Smith defeats Applejack, one of Flash's rivals, in a battle, with her using her ace Pokémon Timbark to beat Applejack's partner Winona.
