The group, now joined by Applejack and Rarity, begin their journey to Applewood City, but on their way they end up helping a group of Kelpool, Lombre, and Lotad get its home back from a group of Bladin and Piercish that forced it from its home, with Riptide determined to help it and prove its worth to Flash.
- Call-Back: Spike says the whole situation is just like the Sharazor situation all over again.
- My God, What Have I Done?: When the group tries to decide how to get to Applewood City, Rarity suggests against going through the Everfree Forest, describing how awful and dangerous it is. This only makes the entire group, except Spike, want to go through it even more. Rarity whispers "What have I done?" once the group has decided to go that way.
- Nonmalicious Monster: The Lotad and Lombre steal the group's food, but they discover it is only because they are trying to heal their friend Kelpool, who is very injured after losing to Piercish.
- I Gave My Word: Piercish honors its deal with the group that if it loses to Riptide then it and all the Bladin will leave the lake in peace. When the Bladin look like they are going to attack everyone after Riptide defeats Piercish, Piercish calls them all off and orders them to leave.
- The Load: Riptide pushes himself to learn Aqua Tail and help defeat Piercish to prove that he isn't this to Flash's team, since he feels like all he has ever done is hold Flash back, and doesn't want Flash to regret letting him join his team instead of replacing him with a stronger Water-Type.
- Sore Loser: After Riptide defeats Piercish, all of the Bladin begin glaring at the group and prepare to attack them themselves, only for Piercish to immediately call them all off and order them to leave the lake as agreed.
- Took a Level in Badass: Riptide learns Aqua Tail, and evolves from an Aquana into a Spranitor to defeat Piercish.
- Wham Episode: Riptide evolves into a Spranitor and Applejack catches a Lombre.
