"My Night with Reg" is a play by Kevin Elyot about a group of gay friends in London who meet up over the course of several years.

Provides examples of:

  • Gay Guy Seeks Popular Jock: Guy has been in love with Jonathan ever since he first met him when was a rugby player at university.
  • The Film of the Play: The film is an adaptation of the stage play of the same name with the original cast reprising their roles.
  • Really Gets Around: Over the course of the play, Guy and the audience learn that Reg slept with everyone in their mutual friend group before his death.
  • Shout-Out: The Chinese restaurant in Benny's anecdote about Robert Ford was apparently The Bridge on the River Kwai on Streatham High Street.
  • Tragic AIDS Story: Reg passed away from AIDS sometime between the first and second scene. It's left Daniel feeling immensely conflicted about having suspected that Reg was cheating on him but never being able to confront him about it while he was alive.
  • Where Everybody Knows Your Flame: The Frog and Trumpet is a gay pub which the characters visit often.
