Recap / Peg + Cat S1E56 "The Sushi Problem"

Go To

Peg and Cat are in a strange Japanese forest, in what appears to be a dojo. Peg explains that they're there for the Ninja Banquet, which is like a fancy dinner with ninjas. Aki is with them and asks them to help prepare the fish they'll use for sushi. She then explains that her teacher asked her to guard it and they try rather unsuccessfully to hide.

Peg declares the situation a big problem (as per usual), startling Cat onto the bush. Peg realises that with him on top, she can hide behind it. Aki doesn't know what "increase" means, so Peg defines it in song. However, somebody comes in and steals the fish.

Cat notices some muddy footprints on the floor, so he and the girls follow them. They find the Pig, but Peg points out that it'd be unusual for him to steal fish, and even more evidence towards him not being the thief is that the footprints are positioned side-by-side, indicating that their owner was leaping along, which the Pig doesn't do.

The Pig runs away, so the girls and Cat try to follow him. The stone is too high up to jump to, so they use rocks to make a staircase. They follow the footprints to the Pig, who is on the other side of a ravine. Aki wants to jump across, but Peg thinks it's too far. They then spot another clue: somebody has sat down in the mud leaving an imprint. This is further proof that Pig isn't the thief— his butt is too small and the imprint has no tail.

Despite this, Aki still thinks he is the thief. Cat slips and lands on some bamboo, which gives Peg the idea of using bamboo sticks to make a bridge. They do so, then come across a wall of crates. This time, they can't make stairs as there's nothing to stack, but luckily Ramone shows up collecting firewood with the Dragon. His kicking down bamboo to make it shorter gives Peg the idea of making the wall of crates shorter.

She and Aki do so by breaking down the boxes, then they hear laughter and a male voice talking to himself about fish. This is more evidence against the Pig, since he never talks— only sings. Peg realises that the only person she knows with a big bottom who hops is the Toad.

The girls jump over the remaining crates to find the Toad. He refuses to give the fish back, so the girls and Cat give chase. When they get to the bridge, it breaks and he ends up on the side of the ravine, causing both girls to "totally freak out". While they count backwards, Cat climbs on Peg to get a peach, inspiring Peg to essentially make a human chain with him and Aki.

They proceed, and successfully save the toad and retrieve the fish. Unfortunately, Toad has already cut it up. Thankfully, that's how you make sushi, note  so essentially he prepared it for them. He explains that he hid because he had a secret recipe.

At the banquet, our heroes sing a song about clues.
