Recap / PaPCAaMiPT Ch 6 "To Snatch a Potty"

Go To

Mr. and Mrs. Cake have returned home and are very pleased to know that the twins have used their potties. Pinkie Pie tells them about how the twins went diaperless, but doesn't tell them about the flushing spree for fear of scaring them. Mr. Cake suspects that they might pull pranks on them, and he's right— Pound is scheming to try and get his sister to stop being so keen on her potty. That night, a "shadowy figure" goes into the bathroom and steals Pumpkin's potty.

The next morning, Pumpkin is surprised to have woken up before Pound since he's usually a lighter sleeper, but she's too angry with him for flushing her rubber chicken to wake him up. Mrs. Cake comes in and she's surprised too, because usually the twins wake up both at once. However, she shrugs it off, lets Pound sleep in, and takes Pumpkin to the bathroom so she can try to use her potty.

However, when they get to the bathroom, they find her potty gone. This makes Pumpkin cry, but Mrs. Cake reassures her that it'll probably show up later and Pumpkin tries using Pound's potty, but finds it too weird. When they get back to the nursery, Pound has woken up and may be grinning evilly.

They go into the kitchen and Mrs. Cake asks her husband if he knows anything about where the potty might be. He doesn't, so the mares suggest that maybe they're dealing with a "potty snatcher"— someone who steals potties and hides them. Apparently, the Pie family dealt with one back when Pinkie and her sisters were being potty trained, who turned out to be Gummy's brother. Pinkie Pie resolves to track down the potty snatcher, but Mr. Cake is a bit unsure for some reason.

That night, Pinkie Pie and Gummy guard Pound's potty when someone comes in and starts to take Pound's potty. She catches him, and it's revealed to be Pound (and not Mr. Cake like she suspected).

This chapter provides examples of

  • Diaper Check: Mrs. Cake checks Pumpkin's diaper in the morning.
  • Foreshadowing: There are some hints that it was Pound who took Pumpkin's potty:
    • He had a plan to get her to stop being so keen on using her potty.
    • He slept in, which makes sense because he got up in the night.
    • When Pound first wakes up, Pumpkin thinks he might have an evil grin on his face (but she also wonders if it's just her imagination).
    • The only other suspect was Mr. Cake, but he has no motive for stealing his foals' potties.
  • I Don't Think That's Such a Good Idea: When Pinkie Pie promises to search for the potty snatcher, Mr. Cake is a bit unsure and seems to think it's a bad idea.
  • Metaphorgotten: Pinkie Pie says that she'll catch the "potty snatcher" "red-hoofed or red-clawed or red... whatever it has for arms and legs."
  • Mystery Episode: A good chunk of this chapter is about Pinkie Pie trying to figure out who the "potty snatcher" is.
  • Red Herring: Mr. Cake acts nervous and unsure about the whole ordeal, hinting that he might be the potty snatcher, but he's not.
  • Shy Bladder: Pumpkin Cake is too weirded out by sitting on Pound's potty to pee.
  • Sticky Fingers: Apparently, Gummy's older brother was a bit of a kleptomaniac, stealing many items including the Pie sisters' potties.
