  • Closer to Earth: Mukada tries to be a voice of reason to Keller and convince him to help Beecher through rough times.

  • Dirty PrisonGuard Ryan uses his sexual relationship with Howell to get her to take out Stanislofsky for him.

  • Enemy Mine:
    • Said and McManus ally to take down Adebisi and Querns.
    • Schillinger tries to from one with McManus but his suggestion of an all white Unit B disgusts him.

  • False Friend: Said befriends Adebisi as part of his plan to bring him down.

  • Guilt Complex: Augustus says he's still troubled by his murder of a cop.

  • He Knows Too Much: Schillinger orders Robson to kill Zabitz when he threatens to expose his role in the death of Beecher's son.

  • Karma Houdini: Hank seems like he might become this when Beecher is told he has gotten off on a legal technicality.

  • Kick the Dog:
    • Schillinger needlessly taunts Ryan about Gloria.
    • He also mocks Beecher about Hank escaping repercussions for his son's death.

  • Loophole Abuse: Ryan is told he'll be held responsible if anything happens to Stanislofsky when he gets back to Em City he'll be held responsible so he has him taken out before he can get back to Em City.

  • Malcolm Xerox: Hughes is even more extreme than thought as shown by his attempt to kill Devlin.

  • Manipulative Bastard: Hank uses Schillinger's love for him to get money.

  • My God, What Have I Done?: Beecher when he learns it is too late to call off the hit on Hank.

  • Morality Pet: A combination of Said's words and needing to be there for his daughter make Beecher call off the hit on Hank.

  • Nice Guy; Busmalis shows great concern for Rebadow despite his friend having tried to kill him.

  • Pay Evil unto Evil:
    • Beecher arranges for Hank to be killed through Pancamo in order to avenge his son.

    • Keller goes to kill Zabitz to get back at him for lying to Beecher about him having his son killed.

    • Beecher attacks Vern as revenge for Gary.

  • Pet the Dog:
    • Even if it came out awkwardly, Pancamo took the time to express sympathy to Beecher for his son's death.

    • Querns allows Stanislofsky a bath.

  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Miles repeatedly taunts Moses by calling him a "negro"

  • Too Dumb to Live: Why Zabitz thought threatening to rat out Schillinger unless he protected him would work is anyone's guess.

  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Keller and Robson argue over who gets to be the one to kill Zabitz.

  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • Beecher gives one to Sister Pete where he accuses her of only caring about him when it suits her own interests.
