  • Armour-Piercing Question: Said is at a loss for words when Adebisi asks if he isn't trying to manipulate someone.

  • Benevolent Boss: Sister Pete allows Beecher to leave work early so he can visit Keller in hospital to comfort him.

  • Becoming the Mask: Basil starts to turn into a criminal.

  • Cruel to Be Kind: Said refuses to say he loves Tricia as he thinks it will make the separation easier for both of them.

  • Et Tu, Brute?:
    • Rebadow is hurt Busmalis didn't involve him in the escape plan.

    • Glynn is devastated to learn Hughes gave Adebisi the gun.

  • Freudian Excuse: if Shirley can be believed, the reason she killed her daughter is because she was the product of Shirley's father-in-law raping her.

  • Forgiveness: Shirley's ex-husband comes to tell her he forgives her in an attempt to absolve her of her guilt, only for her to throw it in his face and say she doesn't feel any guilt for what she did.

  • Genre Savvy: Sister Pete catches onto Stanislofksy having ulterior motives.

  • Honor Before Reason: When Basil thinks Augustus is going to be punished for holding drugs he immediately confesses the drugs Mineo found belong to him.

  • Kick the Dog: Ryan coldly makes Gloria look bad in front of Preston's parents by revealing she was unhappy with him and exposing her affair with McManus

  • Manipulative Bastard:
    • Stanislofsky feigns concern for Ryan in order to keep the cell phone.

    • Ryan tries with Adebisi, attempting to get him to kill Stanislofsky but Adebisi sees through Ryan.

  • Nice Guy: Despite his crimes and barely knowing him Mukada tries to help Keller by convincing Sister Pete to talk with him.

  • Noble Bigot: Despite his views on homosexuality Said still helps Cramer as he feels everyone is owed a fair trial.

  • Papa Wolf: Though he has him arrested, Glynn is still determined to protect Clayton.

  • Pragmatic Villainy: Hoyt refuses to help Stanislofsky kill O'Reily out of fear of the heat it would bring on him.

  • Revenge by Proxy: After learning from Timmy that Beecher arranged his visit with his son, Vern becomes convinced he was trying to use Hank against him and retaliates by having Hank kidnap two of Beecher's kids.

  • Sympathetic Murderer: Rebadow didn't want to Kill Hernandez, only doing so because Morales threatened him with death if he didn't comply.

  • The Starscream: Morales has Hernandez killed to take over the Latinos and in exchange for being given a third of Pancamo and Adebisi's drug business.

  • Tears of Remorse: Cyril in his interaction with Preston's parents.

  • Token Good Teammate: Augustus again shows signs of being this with his genuine concern about Basil's drug problem when most other inmates would try to take advantage of his addiction.
