- Nature Tinkling: Subverted. Since Leanne, Angie and Helen bully Penn by occupying the port-a-potty she was about to go into, Penn tries to find a corner of the jail to pee in privately, only for the three to continue teasing her, never mind it splashing back onto her.

- Running Gag: Alana Dwight breaks her nose for a third time this episode after being too close to the port-a-potty when the imprisoned guard freaks out and hits the walls. The first time happened in season four, and the second happened earlier this season.
- The Bus Came Back: Fig makes her return as the negotiator, having once been the Assistant Warden at Litchfield. It's also the first time we've seen Pornstache since season 3, out on probation.
