After realizing that she doesn't fit in with the chickens in the hen house or the dogs in the barn, Spot runs away and joins the circus. It's then up to the pups to bring her home.
This episode includes examples of:
- Anticipatory Breath Spray: Spot does this right before clucking at the moon with the puppies.
- Be Yourself: At the end of the episode, Spot realizes that she’s a chicken that acts like a dog and that’s okay. She doesn’t need to be the perfect chicken or the perfect dog, she just needs to be herself.
- Bindle Stick: Spot takes one with her when she leaves the hen house so she doesn’t have to follow her mom’s rules about acting like a chicken.
- Carnivore Confusion: Alone in the city, Spot curls up in an alley to sleep for the night…under a fried chicken bucket.
- Cuckoo Finger Twirl: A goose does this to the rest of her flock when Spot asks if she can tag along with them.
- Delusions of Doghood: This episode starts with Spot’s mom being frustrated with her for thinking she’s a dog.
- Exact Eavesdropping: Spot hears Patch, Cadpig, and Rolly talking about how she’s starting to drive them crazy and wondering when she’ll accept the fact that she isn’t a dog. This, of course, hurts her feelings and causes her to leave the farm altogether.
- Filthy Fun: While she’s supposed to be spending more time acting like a chicken, the puppies convince Spot to come roll in the dirt with them instead.
- The Freakshow: After being put through a series of humiliating and painful acts in Cirque DeVil, Spot ultimately ends up in the animal freakshow and is ridiculed for being neither a chicken nor a dog.
- Grounded Forever: Once they finally rescue Spot from the circus, Patch says they better get her home before she’s “grounded for life”.
- Hidden in Plain Sight: The puppies are looking for Spot in the city and actually find the fried chicken bucket she’s sleeping under. However, Rolly thinks the greasy fried chicken smell had thrown him off her scent and they go off searching elsewhere.Patch: [standing on the chicken bucket] But I bet she’s around her somewhere, maybe right under our noses!
- Human Cannonball: Well, chicken cannonball in Spot’s case.
- Ignorance Is Bliss: After dropping a trapeze artist because she can’t grab onto her with her wings, Spot decides she’d rather not know what happened to her.Spot: I’m just going to live my life assuming there was a net there.
- New Job as the Plot Demands: Cruella is apparently the ringleader of a circus in this episode.
- The Runaway: Spot runs away from home to go live with the puppies so she can fulfill her dream of being a dog. Having no luck with this, she goes on a Journey to Find Oneself and figure out what kind of animal she’s supposed to be. She even ends up joining the circus!
- Tightrope Walking: Horace and Jasper attempt to ride a unicycle across a tightrope to reach Spot and the puppies, but Rolly bites the rope and sends them falling.
- Trash Landing: The owner of the Italian restaurant Spot breaks into with the alley cats sprays the cats with water, knocking them out the back door and into the dumpster outside.
