Recap / One Hundred And One Dalmatian Street S 1 E 36 The Longest Night

Go To

Dolly and her gal pals teach the boys a lesson when they're excluded from an all boys camping trip.

This episode features examples of:

  • Brick Joke: At the start of the episode, Hansel claims part of the reason the longest night is male only is because of how it went before when they invited Big Fee. Big Fee later returns, having been the one who took Dylan's head lamp, as revenge for not being allowed in this year.
  • Camping Episode: The titular longest night is a yearly event, where the boys camp out in the park.
  • Continuity Nod: "Mister Fuzzy" and the vendor are shown with each other, hearing the howling from the park.
  • Dark Horse Victory: Diesel is the only one who is actually able to reach Hansel's "elk."
    Diesel: Mmm! Venison flavored!
  • Epic Fail: When the boys try hunting an "elk," it only leads to all by Hansel, Dylan, and Fergus colliding into each other, and Dawkins crashing into a tree.
    • When Hansel tries to arrange an elk hunt, his elk is just a bag of kibble on ticks.
Hansel: You try finding an elk in north London.
  • Foreshadowing: When Hansel says the ice troll wants to make a coat out of puppies, when he says "puppies" his voice changes to sound like Cruella.
  • Ghost Story: Hansel tells one about an ice troll, which gives Dolly an idea on how to prank the boys.
  • Men Are Tough: The general idea of the titular longest night. Though, Hansel later admits he is not really fond of the alpha male type tropes, but feels like he has to coming from a long line of macho huskies.
  • Mythology Gag: When Hansel tells the story of the ice troll, he claims it seeks to make a fur coat out of puppies, exactly what Cruella planned to do in the original 101 Dalmatians.
  • Repeat After Me: When Dolly asks Diesel to yell for help.
    Diesel: FOR HELP!
    Dolly: No, just help!
    Diesel: JUST HELP!
    Dolly: Help! Only help!
Diesel: Got it! HELP! ONLY HELP!
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Hansel briefly does this, when he forbids the girls from joining in the longest night. He later apologizes for this, admitting he only acted as such out of peer pressure, having come from a long line of macho huskies, even though he himself hates the entire alpha male thing. He then happily invites the girls along for the evening.
