Airdate: August 15, 2020

"OH NO! THE POPO!" provides examples of:

  • Accidental Murder: Handy is killed by Brooklyn Guy at the beginning with his car.
  • Asshole Victim: Both Brooklyn Guy and Lumpy receive their comeuppance in rather strange and outlandish ways.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: In a sense. Plankton is the clear main antagonist of the episode, but the two "protagonists" themselves, Brooklyn Guy and Lumpy, are portrayed as corrupt, incompetent, and unsympathetic. If truth be told, when both characters are on duty, they're mainly triggering as many squabbles, if not more than Plankton himself.
  • Bittersweet Ending: While the episode was filled to the brim with characters dying left and right as always, the football side-plot ended on a relatively high note, both police officers gotten their comeuppance, and Plankton fails to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula yet again.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death:
    • Handy is hit by Brooklyn Guy's car. Strangely, he apparently survives this predicament later on in the episode.
    • Cuddles is run over by Brooklyn Guy's police car.
    • Cub's face is destroyed when Lumpy pulls a lollipop from his jaw.
    • Patrick is tased by Lumpy and explodes.
    • Lumpy is electrocuted by an electric harnessing donut and has his nose explode.
    • Plankton is sliced into pieces by glass shards.
    • Brooklyn Guy is inexplicitly eaten alive and digested by Petunia.
  • Caps Lock: The episodes' title is in all caps to emulate a character screaming in shock as they've noticed a police officer who catches onto whatever illegal activities they are committing. Said character is most likely Black Yoshi.
  • Dirty Cop: Both Officer Lumpy and Officer Brooklyn Guy have committed immoral acts themselves.
  • Gainax Ending: In the very last scene of the episode, Petunia is shown to have been full from eating a cake. A walky-talky proceeds to fall out of said cake and Petunia then belches out a police hat. It then cuts to inside Petunia's stomach, where Brooklyn Guy is being digested while the OC EZ is sitting right next to his melting corpse, seemingly unaffected by Petunia's stomach acid.
  • Growling Gut: Brooklyn Guy's gut does this to him, making him distracted from his job to reprehend Plankton.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Plankton's death, where just when he has gotten into the Krusty Krab's safe, it is revealed that Mr. Krabs is one step ahead of him again, where dynamite is in place of the formula, which explodes, causing the glass to shatter and its shards to fly towards Plankton, slicing him into three severed chunks.
  • Idea Bulb: A literal light bulb appears in Lumpy's head when he gets an idea.
  • Karmic Death:
    • Right after stealing Cub and Patrick's snacks and unethically murdering both over it, Lumpy is electrocuted, which causes his snout to burst open.
    • For running over Cuddles with his police car and not even giving a slight fleck of remorse, he is inexplicably devoured by Petunia.
    • And of course, as to be expected, during his jailbreak and his yet another scheme to steal the Krabby Patty formula, when he has gotten into the safe containing said formula, Plankton is instead greeted by a bottle containing a stick of dynamite, which blows up.
  • Jerkass Ball: Lumpy literally steals candy from a baby and a donut from Patrick (killing both in the process) while Brooklyn Guy recklessly runs over Cuddles.
  • Mythology Gag: The episode's title references Black Yoshi, another SuperMarioLogan character who strangely made no appearance in the episode, who has a tendency to call the police "Popo".
  • New Job as the Plot Demands: Lumpy, Sheila, and Brooklyn Guy are cops in this episode.
  • Oh, Crap!: Lumpy's reaction when he sees that Plankton has escaped his cell.
  • Police Are Useless: Both of the cops are easily distracted from their jobs and have committed crimes themselves.
  • Police Brutality: Officer Brooklyn Guy and Lumpy have both mutilated, slaughtered, or even deliberately killed civilians who had absolutely nothing to do with the search for Plankton. For that matter, their only motivation for murdering those hapless bystanders is because of extremely selfish and/or petty reasons.
  • Shout-Out: The OC of the DeviantArt user ezstick76 makes a cameo at the very end of the episode.
  • Sleeves Are for Wimps: Giggles rolls up the fur on her arm as if it was a sleeve when she saw that Fliqpy has SpongeBob hostage. In the same scene, it is shown that she apparently has an anchor tattoo.
  • Squashed Flat: Plankton when he is hit by a police car. A similar fate happens to Cuddles, but he dies this time.
  • Swallowed Whole: The episode ends on an extremely bizarre note: Petunia has apparently eaten Brooklyn Guy, supposedly because the latter was hiding inside a cake. In fact, not even that could explain the absurd climax of the episode.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Sheila, Petunia, SpongeBob, and Splendid survive. Handy is also seen alive and well in a later scene despite being killed earlier.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Handy, Cuddles, Cub, Patrick, Lumpy, Fliqpy, Flaky, Plankton, and Brooklyn Guy die.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Handy dies in a previous scene but he is seen healthy and alive in a later scene.
  • Villain Protagonist: All three protagonists.
  • X-Ray Sparks: Happens to Patrick after Lumpy tazes him.
