K.O. struggles with his upgraded role as a member of the hero team.

- Art Evolution: The background styling has been upgraded for the third season, with more vivid colors and a fine grain texture.
- Boss Subtitles: As has become a tradition for the first episode of each season, the characters are introduced with onscreen text pointing out their enhanced abilities.
- Chekhov's Gun: Ted Viking and Foxy reward K.O. with glorbs that they just found lying around the house. K.O. later figures out that the dragon just wanted to eat glorbs, and realizes that the house was built over a crack on the ground that was leaking glorbs which it usually fed on. Simply moving the house away from the crack solved the problem.
- Heart Is an Awesome Power: The main conflict in this episode is that K.O. is worried that he's only good at one thing (his Power Punch) and is not contributing as much to the team as Rad and Enid. When he solves the dragon situation by applying deduction and empathy rather than violence, Rad and Enid realize that he has a new power - Maturity.
- Opening Shout-Out: K.O.'s power stats include "he fights 'till the end" and "he is our best friend", directly quoting the theme song.
- Our Dragons Are Different: The dragon that was attacking Ted Viking and Foxy's home is a rainbow dragon which feeds on glorbs. Usually they're identifiable by their colorful stripes, but this one was so malnourished that its coloring had faded.
- Personal Raincloud: Enid can tell K.O. is feeling bummed because he has a little rain-cloud over his head.
