Airdate: May 22, 2018

While Lloyd and Harumi locate the third and final Oni Mask, the rest of the team are captured by the Sons of Garmadon and discover the Quiet One's true intentions.

  • Bad Powers, Bad People: Harumi has killed her adoptive parents and caretaker, and, in this episode, begins to use the Oni Mask of Hatred.
  • Cerebus Retcon: Back in "Day of the Great Devourer", the Great Devourer was slain seemingly without any mishap. This episode reveals that there actually were civilian casualties during the Devourer's rampage, and among them were Harumi's biological parents. The Ninja's failure to stop such a tragedy becomes part of the reason for Harumi's Start of Darkness. Harumi lampshades this by asking Lloyd if he was really naive enough to believe that nobody got hurt on that day.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Lloyd is visibly hurt when he realizes that Harumi is the Quiet One all along.
  • Gaslighting: When Lloyd realizes that Harumi is the Quiet One, Harumi tries to act hurt by the accusation, tells Lloyd that he's being silly, and tells him that she loves him. However, she drops the act after Lloyd makes it clear he's not falling for it.
  • I Never Said It Was Poison: Lloyd realizes that Harumi is the Quiet One when she reveals that she knows that he is part-Oni.
  • Internal Reveal: While the other Ninja realised Harumi's true allegiance and the child's identity in the previous episode, Lloyd learns about them a little later.
  • Meaningful Echo: Once Lloyd realizes Harumi is the Quiet One, Lloyd realizes the context of what Harumi said to him before.
Lloyd: It all makes sense now — "The greatest villain is the one you never knew was there in the first place". You said that.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Not only does Lloyd take the Oni Mask of Hatred from the pedestal before realizing that Harumi is the Quiet One, but his attempts to dispose of the Mask by throwing it off the ledge allow Harumi to catch it and don it.
  • Torment by Annoyance: As part of the Ninja's escape attempt, Cole starts singing the Glow-Worm song again to distract the guards.
  • You Are Not My Father: Harumi refuses to acknowledge the Emperor and Empress of Ninjago as her parents, and her hatred of them and her life as princess led her to conspire to orchestrate their deaths.
