This episode provides examples of:
- Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Before Lloyd rushes off to go do ninja stuff, Misako asks him to give her a kiss goodbye first, causing all the other ninja to laugh at him.
- Bad Job, Worse Uniform: The harsh task of drumming up support in Wu's tea shop to unenthusiastic Ninjagites isn't helped by the uniforms Wu makes them wear.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Without their powers, Morro defeats the ninja easily.
- Impact Silhouette: Zane's powers fizzle out while he's riding his dragon, leaving him to plummet to the ground, and then through it, leaving a Zane-shaped hole in the tarmac.
- Lured into a Trap: Morro possesses a security guard at the museum, then phones Wu's shop asking for Lloyd so he can nab his body.
- My Rules Are Not Your Rules: While the ninja are depowered, Morro is not.
- No Fair Cheating: Wu explicitly forbids the ninja using their powers to shift fliers. They do so anyway, and are humiliated when Morro's actions cause their powers to stop working.
- Saying Too Much: The fact the ninja tell Wu their powers aren't working immediately clues him in that they had been using their powers in the first place.
- Too Much Information: While trying to drum up interest for Steep Wisdom, Jay likens the public's lack of interest in the tea shop to their thinking he's passing around a communicable disease. He then says that sure, he has a cold sore, but it's hardly contagious. The other ninja back away from him in response.
- Transformation of the Possessed: Morro partially alters Lloyd's body, turning his hair black and giving him Morro's face.
- Voices Are Mental: When Morro possesses the security guard and then Lloyd, he speaks with his own voice.
- Wham Line: Sensei Wu: "You four were not my first pupils. There was one before you. (The Ninja look shocked) Morro, the master of Wind."
