The ninja must go inside the Digiverse, the Overlord's domain, to save Lloyd and prevent his Golden powers from falling into evil hands.
This episode provides examples of:
- Bittersweet Ending: Wu is rescued, Lloyd escapes, and the Ninja have seemingly won the day. However, Cyrus has been captured and the Overlord has created a physical form, albeit incomplete.
- Cyberspace: The Ninja are digitized as data and put into the digital world.
- Golden Super Mode: The four original Ninja briefly harness Lloyd's Golden Power, turning their Techno robes golden, in order to defeat the Digital Overlord and complete the system reboot.
- No Ontological Inertia: While it makes sense that the Digital Overlord's defeat would free Wu from his control, it doesn't explain why Wu immediately transforms back into his pre-roboticized self.
- Papa Wolf: When Pythor points out that Garmadon is breaking his oath of pacifism, Garmadon retorts that when he kidnapped Lloyd all bets were off.
- Your Mind Makes It Real: Cyrus all but states to the ninja that if they die in the digiverse, they will die in real life (or in his own words, there are no "infinite lives").
