Recap / Ninjago S1E3 "Snakebit"

Go To

Airdate: January 25, 2012

Fuming over the recent betrayal of the Hypnbrai, Lloyd seeks vengeance in the next tribe of snakes - The Fangpyre tribe. Meanwhile, the ninja are preparing their new home, the Destiny's Bounty. As they wrap up their cleaning they are greeted with visitors—Jay's mother and father from the nearby junk yard.

Trouble rears its head as the Fangpyre invade the junk yard later that night, and inject Jay's parents with their venom, slowly turning them and everything in the yard into their own image.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Jay seems to be incredibly embarrassed by his parents.
  • Forced Transformation: Humans infected with Fangpyre venom turn into snakes.
  • Killer Robot: The Fangpyre bite a model of Jay made of scrap metal and use him to attack the Ninja.
  • Loud of War: Lloyd has a boom box infected with Fangpyre venom to drown out Sensei Wu's flute playing.
  • Morph Weapon: A variant; rather than transforming into other kinds of weapons, the Golden Weapons have the capacity to transform into vehicles.
  • Multiple Head Case: The Fangpyre general, Fangtom, has two heads, each with a differently-pitched voice. The Fangpyre warriors also have two heads, though they remain silent.
  • Put on a Bus: The Ninja's dragons leave in order to reach maturity, leaving the Ninja without a method of transport... at least for a little while.
  • Sentient Vehicle: When inanimate objects like vehicles are infected with Fangpyre venom, they come to life with serpentine traits. This is further shown when Jay winds up in the cab of a wrecking ball machine and the control panel has eyes and a snarling mouth.
  • Shout-Out: Fangpyre obviously plays with the word "vampire". Also, the Fangpyre general, Fangtom, has a classic Dracula accent.
  • Vampire Vords: The way that the Fangpyre tribe speaks.
