In an effort to prove to Coach that he hasn't lost his edge, Nick brings the group camping on Thanksgiving.
Tropes in this episode:
- Bland-Name Product: Lampshaded — the vending machine only sells "SNACK"-labeled chips; its packaging is just black text on a white bag.
- Gilligan Cut: Nick declares that the guys will be totally on board with camping. Cut to both Schmidt and Winston declaring their hatred for it.
- Horrible Camping Trip: Nick drags the main characters camping instead of having a traditional Thanksgiving. Cece and Winston don't even want to be there, but go along for the sake of friendship. He doesn't bring food and forces the others to hunt or find it. Cece, Jess, and Winston end up going to a store. Later, Jess eats some nasty fish and gets poisoned, falling into a trap Nick had set earlier.
- Hospital Epilogue: After eating some contaminated fish and falling into a hole, Jess wakes up in the hospital at the end surrounded by her friends.
- Manly Men Can Hunt: Nick cites this belief when he has the men go out to find meat and the women to forage for food. Winston is fine helping out Cece and Jess.
