"Thanksgiving" is the sixth episode of New Girl.
Jess invites a teacher she has a crush on, Paul, to Thanksgiving dinner, despite the fact that her roommates have not made plans for one.

- Black Comedy: The roommates finding their neighbor dead in her bathroom after entering her apartment without her permission because they had nearly set their place on fire is played completely for comedy.
- Bonding over Missing Parents: Variation — Winston and Paul bond over deceased grandparents.
- Control Freak: Schmidt, by his own admission, is a control freak in the kitchen, getting mad at Cece for the most minor of mishaps (like touching a bowl of walnuts).
- Do Not Try This at Home: Defrosting your turkey in a dryer? Bad idea, as the place nearly goes up in smoke.
- Thanksgiving Episode: The crew tries to put a Thanksgiving dinner together.
- We Were Rehearsing a Play: Jess shouts at Nick that she would love to have sex with Paul, and the two promptly find out that the other characters can hear everything they're saying. They sheepishly try to pass it off as rehearsing a play Nick has written.Jess: It's... it's about a man who, um, loves another man named Paul and it's not very good.
