Season 1, Episode 5:

The Curse

Ten years ago, Navy Lieutenant Mark Schilz disappeared off the aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower, along with 1.2 million dollars from the ship's payroll. Now his body has been found by a deer hunter — sealed into a cargo pod lost from one of Eisenhower's F-14s. When the NCIS team arrives at the scene to investigate, they see that his remains have been mummified. Now, they have to find out what happened to him, and also solve the crime of which he was accused: stealing his ship's payroll.
  • Comforting the Widow: This is what happened between Lt. Schilz's coworker, Ensign Randy Wiles, and Schilz's widow Mary: he met her at Schilz's funeral, but didn't tell her he was Schilz's former shipmate. They quickly fell in love and got married.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Erin Toner is so hot she can distract sailors from the fact the mailbag another sailor is carrying has a body in it.
  • Don't Call Me "Sir": Gibbs uses a variant of this line to Special Agent Owens.
Gibbs: Do not 'sir' me. I work for a living.
  • Guy in Back: Tony explains to Kate what "GIB" means while stressing that there's only one "B," leading to:
Kate: Why do you need two "b's," Gibbs?
    Gibbs: Second one's for "bastard."
  • It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time: How Gibbs describes his decision to hire Tony two years ago.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Beautiful!: Erin Toner's overall attitude. She even used her beauty as a distraction during the theft/murder.
