I'm Just a Symbol to Remind You That There's More To See

Martin: Mahvash, how would you feel about being a villain with me for a day?
Ever Green: Aren't they precious? They'll be helping us with our little project. I can tell the leader what to do with a brain fungus. They grew up so fast and trained so well. I haven't named them yet, want to help me?
Dante: So...well I really like to be eccentric, grandiose and dramatic. I think it gives me a beaming, luminous and heroic impression. I had fun with the others because of that. Sure, some of them weren't a fan of my "Drama Prince Charming" persona, but nobody really hated me. Then, that boy, Martin Snow, stepped into the scene. At first, I didn't really have any beef with him. But then, possibly around the week of Valentine's day, he hooked up with a girl that I loved. Everything fell apart when Mr. Snow revealed that he and Mahvash were lovers...and it hurt me...and then, before that...my dad got taken away by my demon stalker...
Mahvash: I'll remind you that this action is going to have effects beyond a distraction. We already had Orthus's troop and that was before known and active genocidaires attacked Saint Foundations, crossed off Saint's 'order' with three news stories, and carried the favor of the local government for reasons. Humans, cryptids, fae, and others will take note of this bit of direct action. For just one point: destruction of property instead of lives can be the difference between protest and a spree killing. When you're acting, do not forget what you want to achieve and what you don't mind inspiring.
"The Black Knight":' Scream, run, hide, pray, today comes your punishment Gaea, a tide of darkness to swallow your sins.
Ash: Well, I... I guess I feel... kinda useless. Like in heroism. I mean... well I've been training in like fighting an' s***. Hand-to-hand, pyrokinesis, yada yada yada. That's all good, but it ain't saving anyone, right? Like... uh, in the sim a while back. Had to save some civvies in this busted-ass cityscape. I went for the burning building, 'cause I could. But uh... when I was saving 'em, it didn't feel... right. I guess... well I guess I ain't that much of a hero. The others have like inspirational speeches an' s***, then I come in sorta to make sure they aren't killing us. That's it. I don't... feel this. This like... this normal hero s*** ain't happenin' for me. I don't know why. Maybe I've been training for the wrong thing, but I got the feeling it ain't got nothing to do with that. I'd save people, but it's like a #$&%ing convenience. I'm just this selfish little bitch hangin' out with the wrong crowd. It's the way it's always been, y'know?
Ellie: Aw, don't worry about me Sammy. I'm probably the toughest person in our squad.
Sally: We're so close to stopping Gaea. We can't afford to falter now.
Evelyn: I... don't really know if what we did was a good idea... I... something feels off. No, something is off. My Eye can tell. I... don't mean to be upsetting, I'm just...
Sam: We have a wounded animal on our hands. The question is not whether it'll die, but how much damage will it cause before that...
Martin: I'm going to bring them down, its my mistake to pay for...If you can, please don't look up at that ship. What I'm going to do, how hard I am going to fight. This once, for this one day in my life I don't know if I can be strong enough to stop myself from hurting someone else.
Shane: And they call us monsters? Allying with the fucking Nazis.
Elim:...this is just perfect, ain't it? Just me and you. Though you know, if you'd just let me end you all those months back, you all wouldn't be in this mess. This is all about you and Lucy. Soon as I'm done with you I'm gonna' go after her. Not like I've got anything else to lose. Not after you and all your little friends went and fucked everything up.

  • First Post: 19 March 2019
  • Short Synopsis: The students of class 1 takes a stark look themselves while pulling a dangerous gambit to take down Gaea and there are consequences...

Tropes - Unmarked spoilers below. You have been warned

  • Bittersweet Ending: How things ultimately conclude. Gaea has been officially stopped for good and Elim is dead. The damage Gaea has done has been mostly averted and the Bad Future the class saw won't happen in this timeline. Also, all of Class 1 survives the last battle. However, the last battle resulted in the deaths of countless innocents and The Saint, who's death leaves a big void. The academy is rebranded as Saint University as per Saint's plans before his death which the class responds to positively. Most of the students' resolve have been strengthened to keep going forward, most notably Mahvash and Martin planning to create their own superhero group. However, some students, such as Ash and Aster, plan on leaving the superhero business and some students' issues, such as Dante and Finn, still haven't been resolved. Also, the Sequel Hook hints at the next enemy to come...
  • Body Back Up Drive: Ever uses this to 'teleport'.
  • The Bus Came Back: Perry and Aster return.
  • Call-Back: The volatile emotions that Gaea exploited during the exam have been Dementius's way into Dante's psyche.
  • Canis Major: Shane transforms into a kaiju sized wolf to attack the Gaea HQ.
  • Deadly Dodging: Mahvash has a like of theatrics, but Gaea's hardened their exterior against their own defenses. Of course that just leads to her turning it up.
  • Defensive Feint Trap: Mahvash simply baits Elim to commit himself to a attack and hinder his own escape. She needn't have bothered given his plans.
  • Fighting for Survival
  • Heroes Act, Villains Hinder: In a refreshing change, Class 1 seizes the initiative and rolls over Gaea in a Saturday offensive.
  • Hope Crusher: Mahvash remembers where she really shines and goes from breaking Elim's attitude to his hope of escape. And his lack of hope in victory stuck from last time. His best hope for the fight was a Mutual Kill.
  • In the Back: One failed spot check...reduces the Saint Academy staff in a big way.
  • Intimidating Revenue Service: The threat of them leads Gaea to their last dance.
  • I Will Fight No More Forever: Several students plan to hang up their capes if they survive the battle.
  • False Flag Operation: What kicks off the whole thing. Martin has the class divide into 'villains' and infiltrators to take Gaea down.
  • Framing the Guilty Party: Class 1 builds on the lack of records that Fluffy found to put Gaea in hot water with the IRS when they found, among other things, activity that could not have been possible without an income stream and activity that made income.
  • Gondor Calls for Aid: Gaea calls in the AltNazis for support in a final hurrah.
  • Leave Her to Me: Elim goes straight for Mahvash.
  • No Plans, No Prototype, No Backup: Averted. To Gaea's cost. Ash finds a powerpoint presentation.
  • Meat Puppet: Ever Green's way of contributing to the villain assault. Pragmatic as ever, she leaves the chaos to her thralls.
  • Misfit Mobilization Moment: Everyone gets serious following the war sequence. And some are driven to quit.
  • Reichstropen: Gaea publically invades the city with Nazis at their side.
  • Self-Destructive Charge: Elim's last moments.
  • Sequel Hook: At the end of the last post, a mysterious unnamed beast woman shows up hiding in a tree. She mentions how this should be fun...
    • Also some of the students' issues have not been resolved. Dementius still has yet to be dealt and Raffaello's soul has yet to be rescued. Finn has yet to have dealt with and tell the others about his issues. There is also the matter of Zach showing signs of PTSD.
  • So Much for Stealth: After the covert op, a few of the class chat about it in a public restaurant.
  • The Last Dance: For Gaea, as they bring out everything to cause as much suffering as possible before going down.
  • Tempting Fate: Zach and Sally particularly after the infiltration.
  • Thou Shall Not Kill: Averted. The class treats war like war. And Zach begins to show signs of PTSD.
  • Trash the Set: Ellie then Mahvash fry the Gaea HQ's support systems and tunnel through them respectively before the latter makes a mess of their square. Superficial damage by comparison.
  • Undignified Death: Both Saint and Elim. Saint succumbs to a sneak attack in one swift moment, which results in his head rolling on the floor in the presence of the student he was least close to (read: hated the most). Elim quickly goes from smug to torn up repeatedly while reduced to incoherence and screaming insults.
  • The War Sequence: Gaea and Nazi troops storm super city with all the bells and whistles.
