An off-hand comment by Applejack about bringing her pig to farmer's club for photo day leads to a competition between her and Rainbow Dash over who is in the most clubs at school. The two proceed to photobomb every club photo they can, and end up discovering they're tied and have been in every club. Rarity corrects them that there is one club they aren't part of; one that she herself began with Applejack's pig, and membership is very exclusive.
Tropes:
- Ash Face: Rainbow Dash's head is covered in soot when she photobombs the chemistry club, hinting that an experiment just blew up in her face.
- Continuity Nod:
- Derpy is seen in the chemistry club; Friendship Games showed her as part of that event. Likewise, Flash Sentry was in both the chemistry and the baking part of the event and is part of both clubs here.
- The marching band photo consists of the same band members seen in Friendship Games.
- The art club seems to be carving a new Wondercolt statue, as the one destroyed in Friendship Games still hasn't been replaced last that its pedestal was seen.
- The rap club consists of Snips and Snails in their costumes from Rainbow Rocks, Pinkie in her rap costume from "Dance Magic", and Rainbow in her rap costume from the "Get the Show on the Road" animated short.
- In the computer club photo, Twilight is holding the robotic dog she created in the short "Mad Twience".
- For the final club, Twilight is seen wearing the same blonde wig that Rarity used to disguise Princess Twilight in the first movie.
- Contrived Coincidence: Every school club happens to be taking their club photos on the same day, letting Applejack and Rainbow get in on all of them.
- Hidden Depths: A lot of the student body has their hobbies revealed through the club photos.
- Lethal Chef: In the baking club photo, Rainbow Dash is holding a badly-burned pie.
- Lightning Glare: Applejack and Rainbow Dash exchange an electric glare while their competition is in full swing, showing how serious they are.
- Literal-Minded: Applejack brings a section of picket fence to the photo for the fencing club.
- Mythology Gag:
- Just like his Equestrian counterpart, Big Mac plays Dungeons & Dragons-esque tabletop games, and is wearing an improvised helmet identical to the one his counterpart wore in "Dungeons & Discords".
- Rainbow Dash is just as hopeless with baking pies as her pony counterpart, which was established in "Secrets and Pies".
- Robe and Wizard Hat: Trixie at the tabletop game club seems to be playing as some sort of spellcasting class, and dresses appropriately for it.
- Serious Business: Only Applejack and Rainbow Dash could make club participation a competition.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: Applejack and Rainbow compete to see who can be in more clubs, but they end up in the same number of photos by the time the school yearbooks come out.
- Shipping Fuel: Flash × Derpy was subtly gaining traction after Friendship Games and Legend of Everfree repeating the joke of her comforting him after he was abandoned by Twilight and Sunset. Here they're shown to be in two clubs together and are standing next to each other in the group photos. Hmm...
- Shout-Out: At the drama club (or manga club) photo, Applejack channels Tuxedo Mask with a cape and rose, and the rest of the girls also take poses typical of Sailor Moon.
