Recap / My Little Pony 'n Friends E6: "The End of Flutter Valley 6"

Go To

In Bumbleland, the fire has had one positive effect — it's melting the giant honeycomb the flutter ponies are caged in, giving them a chance for escape. Elsewhere, Morning Glory consoles Sting over his abandonment and the two return to Bumbleland, where Sting solves the Sunstone issue by simply knocking it onto the ground, where it melts a hole in the earth and vanishes from sight. Morning Glory is, understandably, a little less than chuffed at this development. Queen Bumble and the other bees return at this point, leading to a confrontation as she demands Sting recapture Morning Glory and he refuses. A fight ensues between Sting and the other beeds, and the flutter ponies escape from their cage. As they're still weighed down by honey and cannot fly, however, they're quickly recaptured.

In Flutter Valley, the ponies are trapped in Ahgg's web. They manage to trick him into letting the green furbob out by putting him in one of Fizzy's bubbles and getting the spider to play with him like a ball until the bubble pops and the furbob escapes. Hydia is furious, but her daughters argue that a single furbob can't possibly be a threat to them.

Morning Glory and Sting, having managed to remain free, mope about their situation until they notice a rainbow. Morning Glory, remembering stories the little ponies told her about Megan, decides that this seems like a pretty good time to go get her, so she and sting fly over the rainbow and to the Williams' ranch. They do not find Megan, but they do find an irascible bull who corners them in a barn as the episode ends…

This episode contains examples of:

  • Brutish Bulls: Sting and Morning Glory are cornered by an aggressive, bad-tempered bull that immediately tries to charge them down.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Sting and Morning Glory cornered by an angry bull with no way to escape, while they desperately call for Megan to help them.
  • Convection, Schmonvection: The flutter ponies are trapped inside the honeycomb in the middle of a raging wildfire, covered in hot, melting honey, but it doesn't give them any burns or affect them in any other way.
  • Cutting the Knot: Sting's solution to the Sunstone slowly burning everything with radiant heat is to simply knock it off its stand, causing it to melt into the ground, to which terrified Morning Glory points out that he has just doomed the Flutter Valley.
  • Darkest Hour: The Sunstone has been lost, all the heroes have been captured, Flutter Valley only has a few hours left before it's lost for good, and only a single furbob, a flutter pony, and a demoralized bee are left free to do anything about this.
  • Fish out of Water: Morning Glory and Sting are a little confused while in the human world — the latter in particular mistakes a bull for Megan, a human girl.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Ultimately cemented for Sting in this episode.
  • Loves Me Not: Draggle does this about her mother, except with "she hates me, she hates me not".
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Queen Bumble's constant belittling and abuse, now capped with leaving him to his fate in a burning Bumbleland, work to convince Sting to ditch her side and join forces with the ponies.
  • Triumphant Reprise: "Stretch yourself to the limit" gets a reprise sung this time by both Morning Glory and Sting, who now has no problems flying alongside her.
