Recap / My Little Pony 'n Friends E27: "The Return of Tambelon 2"

Go To

Bray reports back to Grogar, announcing that almost all the ponies have been captured. Grogar orders him to get the rest, and to be especially careful to get the humans. They, unlike the ponies, happen to have hands, and Grogar wants more slaves with those handy opposable thumbs. Outside, the few escapees meet up and take headcount. As it turns out, only the kids, a handful of ponies, and two each of the flutter and sea ponies remain free, alongside four bushwoolies; the baby ponies have been sent to the Moochik in hope that his magic can protect them. Four grundles, including their king, show up and announce that Grogar captured all the rest of their kind as well.

Megan decides to sneak into the city and free the prisoners and, after their first attempts turn sour, flies in alone with Lofty in hope that two people alone will pass unobserved. A few ponies, meanwhile, manage to escape from the dungeons and come across a large bell that Galaxy says holds magic power. They meet up with Megan, go back to get the other prisoners, and make a run for the gates. They're able to handle Bray and the troggles easily enough, but then Bray goes back to fetch his boss. Grogar arrives and very quickly defeats the heroes, capturing them all and bringing them back to the dungeons. Only one flutter pony, who snuck in earlier to reconnoiter, manages to flee to bring word back to the others.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Cobweb of Disuse: Every object in the bell's room is draped in layers of cobwebs, indicating that nobody's been in that room for a tremendously long time and amplifying the creepy and gloomy surrounding Tambelon in general.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: In the escape attempt, the heroes handle the Mooks with a fair amount of ease. Then Grogar steps in, after which it's not even a fight — he defeats them in seconds, trapping them with his capture beams before they can even react and stopping the escape dead in the water.
