Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: The U.A. classmates in the forest feel this way when they find Gigantomachia hasn't fallen asleep yet to the anesthetic Red Riot threw into his mouth, and has ran off after dealing with the Hero calvary from last episode. Mineta is especially vocal about this feeling of defeat and wonders if running away was a better option.
  • Curbstomp Battle: The eerie silence in the forest, as well as seeing Gigantomachia rampaging through one of the cities is a sure sign that the calvary that were backing up the U.A. students were all but decimated, though it's currently unknown who among the group survived.
  • Darkest Hour: Most of the Pros are too busy handling the Near-High End Nomu attack and the PLF raid, everyone else is continuing evacuations, Gigantomachia has beaten the calvary aiding the U.A. students and is rushing to Shigaraki's aid with the rest of the League on his back while multiple cities are trampled in his wake and, to top it all off, Shigaraki is no longer affected by Eraserhead now that the teacher is taken out of the fray. The only reason why he hasn't used another devastating Decay attack is because his Regeneration Quirk has stopped functioning thanks to waking up prematurely, causing all the damage done to catch up to him and allowing Midoriya and the other Heroes to strike back.
  • Desperation Attack: Midoriya has been trying to avoid damaging his arms since he has mastered OFA Shoot Style but, with the stakes raised now that Shigaraki is able to use Decay again, he foregos all caution and try to punch and smash the living daylights out of him.
  • Driving Question: Bakugo remembers reading the notes regarding OFA and their users. He wonders why a small note about the 4th User was scribbled out and suspects that All Might knows something about this tidbit that he's hiding from young Midoriya. All Might states he's not ready to tell his successor until he is absolutely sure of confirmation.
  • Eye Scream: Before Aizawa is taken out of battle, Shigaraki gets close enough to rake his face with his bare hand, supposedly damaging one of his eyes before Todoroki intercepts.
  • Hope Spot: Bakugo and Todoroki help Endeavor get close enough to grab Shigaraki and try to finish him off with Prominence Burn. Unfortunately, "All For One" steps in within Shigaraki to unleash Rivet Stab on Endeavor and anyone else at close range.
  • Life-or-Limb Decision: Hearing Ryukyu allows Eraserhead to react quickly as Shigaraki's Quirk-eraser bullet hits his leg last episode. Just like with Re-Destro, he manages to cut off his own leg before the bullet's effect spreads.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": Ingenium, Uravity, Froppy... hell, anyone watching or listening to the news right now regarding a long list of cities in Gigantomachia's straight path to Jaku City. Whoever is not dead after he rampages through will surely be either injured or homeless.
  • Meaningful Echo: "My body just moved on its own." Bakugo has this feeling when he saves Midoriya from a Rivet Stab, exactly how then-Quirkless Midoriya reacted before attempting to save Bakugo from the Sludge Villain.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: To prevent Shigaraki from performing Decay for another World-Wrecking Wave, Midoriya makes use of Float, a Quirk of One For All that once belonged to 7th User Nana Shimura. With this, he can keep both himself and Shigaraki off the ground.
  • Not Worth Killing: Yaoyorozu feels that Machia was too focused on retaliating against the Pros to even see the students as a threat.
  • Open Secret: During a flashback, Bakugo and All Might discuss how Midoriya is further training One For All, honing in on Blackwhip and Float. With more abilities revealing themselves, both come to the conclusion that the secret of his "Superpower" Quirk cover-up won't be secret for much longer should more people take notice.
  • Swapped Roles: Back in season one, pre-OFA Midoriya attempted to save Bakugo from a Sludge Villain that was holding him hostage. The end of this episode has Bakugo saving Midoriya this time from Shigaraki/"All For One".
  • Taking the Bullet: The episode ends with Bakugo saving Midoriya from Shigaraki's attack.
  • Villain Respect: Shigaraki once again compliments Aizawa's badassery when the teacher cuts off his own leg so the Quirk-eraser bullet doesn't spread.
  • Why Won't You Die?: Endeavor word-for-word against a very stubborn Shigaraki.
