When Lunella and Devil have a spat before the Lafayettes leave on a road trip, Devil falls in with a group of former superhero animal sidekicks, only to learn that the former heroes have fallen further than they let on.
- Animal Talk: Played straight in this episode. Language Barrier doesn't apply to Devil as they all can understand his growls.
- Butt-Monkey: Toothgnasher is the only super pet that doesn't have his owner's neglect turn out to be a misunderstanding. Apparently he truly is MIA.
- A Day in the Limelight: Devil takes center stage while Lunella is away.
- Expy: Redwing's super is clearly The Falcon in all but name, but due to Sam Wilson being Captain America in this series, Redwing was given to a different character.
- Dine and Dash: The first hint that ABC isn't what it appears to be. Devil quickly leaves some cash behind.
- In with the In Crowd: When Lunella leaves on her road trip, Devil falls in with a group of embittered animal sidekicks who pressure him into doing worse and worse things.
- Lost Pet Grievance: Turns out most of the superheroes genuinely loved their sidekicks and were surprised when the animals ran away.
- Pebble left his superhero Granite when he thought he was moving into an apartment that banned dogs. Turns out Granite was only getting that apartment for his mother and desperately looked for Pebble.
- Aragorn was embittered that her superhero would take frequent plane rides and make her fly alongside rather than riding inside. Turns out her super only took those rides so she would have more opportunities to fly.
- Redwing was angry that his superhero wouldn't even reveal his identity to him. Turns out that Rodney was just in Hero Witness Protection and, once he was out, gladly revealed his identity.
- Due to legal reasons, Toothgnasher can't talk about his superhero note other than the implication that they don't want him back.
- Poke the Poodle: As the other members of ABC thrash Granite's lair, Devil is reluctant to join in, and half-heartedly knocks over an action figure. He then tries to fix whatever mess the others make.
- Talking Animal: All the super pets in ABC can speak perfect English.
- Voiceover Letter: Parodied. As Devil reads the flyer for ABC, it is being read in voiceover. But then it starts reading from other flyers, and it's revealed to be a real person reading all the flyers in the post out loud.
