  • Accidental Murder: A gravedigger is impaled on a decoration of a tomb when the culprit hits him with their crowbar while robbing Roland's tomb.
  • Face Death with Dignity/Graceful Loser: Ultimately, Mrs Bolkonsky, who just seems calmly resigned when Hugh gets out the manacles, saying that they won't be necessary and going quietly to her arrest and implicit death by hanging.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: The fate of Ernie Potts.
  • Innocent Bystander: Ernie Potts, the gravedigger, was killed because he was in the graveyard at the time that Maude was trying to retrieve Roland's gun, and she attacked him in a panic.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Surprisingly, it seemingly settles on the Magic end when it's strongly implied that Mrs Bolkonsky's powers are partially genuine.
  • Not-So-Phony Psychic: Most of the characters believe that Mrs Bolkonsky is just a standard Phony Psychic and shrewd cold-reader (e.g. picking up on Jack's love for Phryne), albeit perhaps one who believes her own lies. However, it is very strongly implied that her abilities are at least partially real - there is absolutely no other way she or anyone else could know the exact circumstances behind Basil Hamilton's death, even his brother.
  • Paranormal Episode
  • Plethora of Mistakes: Everything started when Aunt Prudence called a séance to speak with her deceased godson Roland. This would eventually lead to two other people dying in present time. Maude wanted to protect Roland's actual killer Larry and went to break into Roland's grave to retrieve the evidence, but in their panic, they accidentally killed the grave keeper. Mrs Bolkonsky would kill Freddy upon discovering that Hamilton's brother was also in Roland's regiment and died a painful death because Freddy, who was shell-shocked did not do anything to save them.
  • Real After All: It's strongly implied that Mrs Bolkonsky does in fact have some psychic abilities, since she and everyone else had no possible way of knowing the circumstances behind Basil Hamilton's death.
