The gang participates in a school event that combines the Academic Decathlon and the Athletic Decathlon.
Tropes:
- Academic Athlete: The Middletown Middle School team are very skilled, both scholastically and athletically, and are much more prepared for the Athledecomathalon than the main characters (though to that could be excused with the fact that they knew about this event three months before they did).
- Actually Pretty Funny: When tasked with naming five historical disasters, Milo lists Mr. Drako's haircut. He finds this amusing enough to accept as a correct answer.
- Agent Mulder: Chad is convinced Mr. Drako is a vampire.
- Ambiguously Human: Chad is convinced that Mr. Drako is a vampire, which seems pretty reasonable, given his pale skin, accent and aversion to sunlight.
- Another Story for Another Time: The school couldn't afford to keep the Academic Decathlon and the Athletic Decathlon separate but could afford 400 tablets. Mr. Drako says it's a funny story for another time.
- Chekhov's Gag: Melissa's knowledge of every president's blood type.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: When Mr. Drako mentions how the school wasted money on a yacht, said yacht is briefly shown in a short cutaway. The name of the yacht is S.S. Indulgence.
- Left the Background Music On: At the end of Martin's flashback, it's shown there was a rock band playing the background music. He explains their presence by claiming those were The '80s.
- Skewed Priorities: Mr. Drako knew of the Decathlon combination three months in advance but withheld the knowledge from the students because he considered keeping them from freaking out over it more important than readying them for it.
- Too Important to Walk: Mr. Drako is always shown on a self-balancing scooter.
- Underdogs Never Lose: Not only does the home team win, it's specifically Milo who captures the victory.
- In the backstory, Martin managed to win the big soccer game because Murphy's Law hit everybody else on both teams, leaving the ball inches from the goal for him to effortlessly score the game's only goal.
