Recap / Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers S3E2 A Friend in Need Part 2

Go To

The Power Rangers befriend Masked Rider and the Edenoi rebels, learning the history of Edenoi and its enslavement by Count Dregon. To aid his Plague Patrol, Dregon sends down the Cogworts, three frog-like monsters, which draw the Rangers and rebels out of hiding. Can the combined forces defeat the evil troops? Back on Earth, Bulk and Skull are finally over wanting to discover the Rangers' true identities. Instead, now they're attempting to dupe a pair of lovely ladies into thinking they're Power Rangers themselves! And up on the moon, Lord Zedd and Rita take advantage of the lack of Rangers guarding the Earth and send down the Repellator monster. With her teammates on another planet, can the flu-ridden Pink Ranger hold him off alone?

Tropes

  • Innocuously Important Episode: From this episode on, Bulk and Skull give up on finding out the identity of the Power Rangers.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: When Bulk starts to tell Skull of his plan to woo two girls by pretending to be Power Rangers, Skull (thinking it’s another plan to expose their identities) tells Bulk he’s had enough of trying to find the Rangers.
  • Original Generation: The Plague Patrollers are created from various monster bits recycled from earlier in the series to unused ones that either had no time to be used or were just inappropriate for American children.
  • Palette Swap: Repellator is basically Silver Horns painted green with a tongue inserted.
  • Poorly Disguised Pilot: For Masked Rider.
  • You Just Had to Say It:
Lord Zedd: Where's Finster with my new monster? I don't have all century to wait!
Goldar: Yeah, not with Dregon moving in on you.
Rita: Goldar, you thunder-head! You just had to say it, didn't you? You had to mention his name!
    Zedd: Count Dregon?!
Rita: (rolls her eyes) There he goes again.
Zedd: I hate him! I despise him! He's too evil for his own good!
