While the city of Angel Grove celebrates the Power Rangers, Rita Repulsa makes her boldest move yet when she transports the entire population to another dimension. Enlisting the malevolent Lokar and the evil war zord Cyclopsis, Rita overpowers the Rangers and nearly destroys their zords.

But when MMPR proved to be a surprise sensation, they revised the episode at the last minute, editing out the ending from Zyuranger where Rita Repulsa and her henchmen are sent back to the dumpster (then-revealed to be a "magical urn")
. The fact that it was meant to be the series finale becomes very obvious at the end when Zordon gives the Rangers the option to retire as well as the Rangers acting like Rita had been defeated for good, even though in the final air version she escapes. Though even with this revised ending, it could imply that Rita has given up and fled.Zordon: These files could help us reduce Rita's power, or even stop her altogether.- Although it does explain why they know so much about Rita's monsters afterward and why she turned more to alternate means of making monsters (since she knew Zordon and Alpha knew everything about Finster's monsters). She also seemed to step back a bit and let Goldar enjoy a more Dragon-in-Chief role for the next several episodes.
- Team Hand-Stack/"YEAH!" Shot: As this was intended to be the final episode, the team does this twice—first at "Powers Rangers Day" and again when they tell Zordon that they will remain Power Rangers at the end of the episode.
- Wham Episode: Given that this was intended to be the Grand Finale for the original 40-episode run of the show, it has a couple of these:
- The Dino Megazord getting its arm torn off during the fight must have been an Oh, Crap! moment for the kids back in the day. While the Green with Evil storyline had bad things happen the robot, being tossed into a lava pit and showing the individual zords roaring as they were seemingly Dragged Off to Hell, they'd never go so far before as to show a zord being deliberately dismembered.
- Rita's Palace descends from the moon for the first and only time.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Following the defeat of Cyclopsis, Lokar is never seen again.note .
