A talking skull (voice of David Warner) tries to escape from limbo and devour the souls of the living.
Tropes:
- Did You Just Scam Cthulhu?: Pretty much how Max gets the Gatekeeper to open the gate and let him go after Talon, despite not having his cap anymore. Virgil warns Max that the Gatekeeper's a powerful being demanding respect, but Max's ploy involves showing how it's the exact opposite. See, having the cap doesn't making him the Mighty One, being the chosen envoy of the Powers That Be does. And if he can't do his job because of an Obstructive Bureaucrat who's too hung up on the letter of the law, those powers are going to be very annoyed with that Obstructive Bureaucrat when they find out. The Gatekeeper then magically zaps Max's cap back onto his head and lets him through.
- Take That!: When Max finds Talon's CD-looking immortality disc, he says "With my luck it's probably the Village People.''
- Trapped on the Astral Plane: First Talon, then Max after Talon steals the cap that opens the only way out. Fortunately Max is the master of the Indy Ploy and gets the Gatekeeper to open the gate for him anyway.
- Your Soul Is Mine!: As you can guess from the title, Talon has the power to steal people's souls. Fortunately Max shatters his eyeball and sets them all free.
