Go To

"¡Feliz Cumpleaños!" is the seventh season 3 short of the new Mickey Mouse (2013) series created by Paul Rudish for the Disney Channel and Disney.com. It's the 44th to air on the Disney Channel and put up on Disney.com.

Mickey's friends hold a birthday fiesta for Mickey himself, but a group of rogue piñatas threaten to trash the party. This is another episode where no English is spoken — just like "Al Rojo Vivo", this short is spoken entirely in Spanish. But rather than taking place in Spain, it takes place in Mexico.

Tropes:

  • Asshole Victim: The rogue piñatas, especially there leader was destroy into confetti for trashing down Mickey's birthday party. And even though the leader survive this, his candy is end up being eaten by a bunch of kids.
  • Backstab Backfire: After the head piñata is told to leave, he tries to hit Mickey with a flan. Cue Mickey dodging the flan and throwing his stick at the piñata, turning him into a fireworks display.
  • Black Comedy: A bunch of mouse children eat the lead piñata... ''While he's still looking.''
  • I Surrender, Suckers: The head piñata pretending to give up so he can attack Mickey from behind. It does not end well for him.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: For trashing down Mickey's birthday party for no reason other than being jerks, the rogue piñatas end up being destroyed into confetti by the mouse himself.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: When they smash his birthday cake, Mickey stops holding back on the piñatas and smashes THEM.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Three Caballeros, including Donald and Panchito, are playing in the birthday band.
    • In addition, one of the piñatas chases a woman in the same style as a certain part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
    • When Mickey decides to take revenge on the piñatas, he goes blind(-folded) and initiates a series of Single Stroke Battles, like the blind swordsman Zatoichi.
    • Bullet Dancing (or in this case balloon Dancing) is a trope on its own, but for the spaghetti western vibe it is probably a reference to Dollars Trilogy... and Mickey becoming a samurai is a neat reference on how much these movies owe to samurai flicks.
    • Mickey stabs the lead piñata in the butt with Eeyore's tail.
    • The head piñata's attempt at a Backstab Backfire is similar to Scar's attempt at the end of The Lion King.
  • Shown Their Work: Instead of "Happy Birthday to You!", Mickey is serenaded with the traditional Mexican birthday song "Las Mañanitas".
  • Spontaneous Mustache: Mickey grows a thick mustache when confronting the lead piñata, only to have it swiftly torn off.
  • Tranquil Fury: Mickey manege to keep his serious looks despite being absolutely pissed off at the piñatas.
  • Villainous Breakdown: The piñata leader screams in panic when Mickey's go after him after his I Surrender, Suckers attack backfire, and then in agony when bunch of kids eating his candy.
