Recap / Mickey Mouse S3 E12 "Dancevidaniya"

Go To

"Dancevidaniya" is the twelfth season 3 short of the new Mickey Mouse (2013) series created by Paul Rudish for the Disney Channel and Disney.com. It's the 49th to air on the Disney Channel and put up on Disney.com.

Mickey and Minnie go to a Russian folk dance in Moscow, only for Peg-Leg Pete, who is performing that night, to force her and Mickey into the show.

This is another short where no English is spoken; there are only a few words of dialogue in this cartoon, and they are all spoken in Russian.

Tropes:

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Pete to Minnie, kidnapping her and dragging her on stage mid-performance.
  • Crazy Enough to Work: When Mickey realizes that the dancers guarding Pete are imitating him, he gets them to mimic him spinning... then he bumps them off the stage.
  • Hammerspace: The matryoshka doll Mickey gives Minnie has a Faberge egg in its smallest doll that is bigger than the largest doll. Later, Mickey pulls a full-size sleigh, plus three horses to pull it, from that egg.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Pete gets surrounded by an army of Mickeys who proceed to literally kick him to the curb, with Minnie joining in as retribution at him for kidnapping her.
  • Matryoshka Object: Nesting dolls are a running motif in this cartoon, to the point where Micky duplicates himself by coming apart like a matryoshka doll.
  • Public Domain Soundtrack: The short (and the performance it's based around) are set to "Kalinka".
  • Self-Duplication: Mickey is able to produce multiple copies of himself like a nesting doll to defeat Pete.
  • That Russian Squat Dance: Mickey and Minnie see Pete and his backup dancers perform this.
