"Oh, what’s wrong? Realizing you actually have to rely on skill now?"
Tari and Theo meet the horrors of a madman with too much time on his hands.
Theo, inadvertently transported into Sheridan's simulation, attempts to rescue Tari, but with Tari weakened and Evelyn in hot pursuit, will they manage to find a way out?
Episode 22 contains examples of:
- Apologetic Attacker: Apologetic human shield user in this case, as Tari is using an unused avatar of Lamar as a shield and says she's sorry if the real Lamar can feel it.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Tari punches Evelyn in the face in order to escape Sheridan's clutches.
- Big Damn Heroes: Theo manages to break into the room where Tari is being held and destroys the machine that was being used to transfer Lucinia's mind, leaving the process incomplete and saving Tari.
- Brought Down to Normal: Thanks to the previous episode and Sheridan’s incomplete extraction, Tari is now without her warping ability and HUD.
- Cliffhanger: Not only is Tari stuck in Skybreakers after sending Theo off to warn Lamar and Sofia, but she's severely weakened, unable to use her abilities, and ends up passing out from her knife wound. And to make matters worse, Evelyn has already entered the game to hunt down Tari.
- Heroic Sacrifice: As Evelyn is about to catch up with Tari and Theo through the warp portal, Tari throws Theo towards the end of the portal to allow him to escape.
- Locked Out of the Loop: Theo has no idea what Sheridan and Lucinia look like, so he is unable to recognize them. Subverted with Evelyn, as he's able to recognize her voice.
- Noodle Incident: According to Marco, Sofia once legally changed his name to "Princess Hot Pants".
- Psycho Knife Nut: Evelyn is given a code damaging knife which she uses to scratch Tari's stomach, causing her to bleed data.
- Shout-Out: The scene where Tari and Theo are being chased by Evelyn through the warp portal created by Sofia references Thor: Ragnarok.
- Spanner in the Works: Sheridan's plan would've worked flawlessly if Theo hadn't attempted to warp into Turbo Crash 9 with Tari.
- Sure, Let's Go with That: When trying to tell Theo to rescue Tari, Sheridan notices that Belle and Masa mouthed his name and assumes that they want to join as employees. To allow Theo to remain undiscovered, they go with it.
- Trapped in Another World: Due to Evelyn interfering, Tari is forced to abandon the warp portal early on and ends up in the world of Skybreakers.
- Unskilled, but Strong: Evelyn lampshades that Tari was this and is now almost completely helpless now that her abilities are disabled.
- Wham Shot:
- After Evelyn leaves to murder Tari and as Sheridan is boasting to the A.I. Lucks of how superior he is to him, Lucinia's index finger moves a tiny bit.
- When Evelyn stabs her knife into the Lamar avatar, the real Lamar’s Meta Runner arm suddenly starts to spark.
