Al is bombing in baseball, and the team wants to kick him out and replace him.

- Food as Bribe: Roy, a restaurant owner and the leader of the softball team New Market Mallers, bribes Bud and Kelly with food to allow their father be ejected in favor of Sven. Bud falls for it and asks for a menu first.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Al gets tossed aside in favor of Sven by his family and softball team. When Marcy accidentally knocks Sven out, though, they have to beg Al to step up to the plate. He gladly milks this for all it's worth, including forcing the family to sing the "DADDY" song and deliberately getting two strikes just to make the team nervous. Amazingly, Al does get a home run. He makes a point of waiting to cross home plate just so he can rub his victory in the faces of those who turned on him.
- Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: "M! V! P!"
- Sarcasm Mode: Al when Peg asks him to fill in for Sven.
- This Is Gonna Suck: Peg fully expects Al to strike out when he fills in for Sven. She ends up being wrong.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Al scores a home run with his swing and he scores a victory. A very rare case of Al winning and having a happy ending.
- You Owe Me: Al uses the "DADDY" song to guilt his family into letting him stay on the team:D is for D many pies I make you.
