Magnum and Higgins are hired by a bail bondsman friend to find a woman who skipped bail, but they're not the only ones looking. T.C. and Katsumoto search for Cade's mother.
Tropes:
- Corrupt Cop: Sergeant Nix and his Narcotics task force. He used Stella as an informant to rip off drug dealers, got her pregnant and framed her for drug offences when she tried to escape him to protect the baby.
- Delivery Guy: Rick must be the calmest example of this trope ever when Stella goes into labour while the father closes in. Having read many baby books in preparation for his baby with Suzy, he calmly helps her through the process, pausing only to blow away a Mook trying to sneak up, apologise for alarming her, and get back to it.
- Due to the Dead: Melvin Machado gives Magnum and Higgins the Stella Torres case after the Jimmy Wu, the first detective he approached, seemingly took the money he fronted him and disappeared. He's sorry for badmouthing Jimmy when he learns he died.
- Imperiled in Pregnancy: The gang think Nix wants to kill Stella to avoid blowback should anyone learn that he got his CI pregnant. In fact, his motives are a little more complicated, but still very bad news for Stella, who goes into labour as Magnum and Rick are getting her away from Nix and his task force.
- Missing Mom: T.C.'s fostering of Cade requires that some effort be made to find his birth mother. T.C. and Katsumoto embark on a search, only to find that she didn't leave Cade after all; she died in a fire.
- Wham Shot: When Higgins and Lia speak to Nix's wife, she happens to mention that she can't have children. The gang have been operating on the assumption that Nix wants to kill Stella to cover up that he got her pregnant, but then Lia finds a nursery in the Nix home. They realise he wants to kill Stella and take the baby to raise as his and his wife's own, seemingly by adoption.
