- After-Action Healing Drama: Ethan is shot in the leg trying to take down one of the thieves. Higgins patches him up while they're locked in the freezer.
- Big Disaster Plot: The action happens while the gang ares sheltering from a hurricane at La Mariana. The disaster also means their ability to call for help is limited when some guests turn out to be armed robbers.
- Character Name Alias: The armoured truck drivers call themselves Vince and Neil, after Vince Neil, the Mötley Crüe frontman.
- Ship Tease: Magnum is not happy that Higgins is dating Ethan, stating that she can "do better," although he can't find anything wrong with him. Later, he admits that Ethan is a good man.
- Special Guest: Roger E Mosely, who played T.C. in the original series, appears as Booky for the second and last time.
- Spotting the Thread: When Magnum goes out to get an athsmatic guest's inhaler from his car, he sees the bodies of the real drivers inside the armoured truck.
