Assane takes Claire's advice and manages to escape capture from Pascal and his men. Raoul is home and completely unharmed, but Claire is sufficiently traumatized by what happened to decide that cutting Assane off is the best course of action. She attempts to move on from him by pursuing a new relationship with a doctor (much to Assane's displeasure). Hubert Pellegrini, meanwhile, has recently employed a new stockbroker named Philippe Courbet, and tells him of his and Juliette's plans to host a grand classical concert in honor of their foundation. However, he also reveals that he intends to send eighty-five percent of the donations to a personal offshore bank account in the Cayman Islands.

Assane continues working on his plan to trap Hubert, and turns his attention to Juliette. With assistance from Benjamin, he sets up a Prank Date for Juliette at a restaurant, thus allowing himself to step in as the Nice Guy when the businessman she is supposed to be meeting inevitably stands her up. Over the next few days, Assane casts his spell over Juliette by taking her on a joyride around Paris and pretending to steal a priceless work of art for her. In the process, he also convinces her to speak with her mother, Anne, about Hubert's crimes in the 1990s. When Juliette does so, Anne admits that Hubert had hired Babakar with the intention of framing him for stealing the necklace. Juliette is shocked and encourages Anne to go to the police; after some resistance she ultimately agrees to do so. Armed with Anne's witness testimony, Guédira and Laugier arrest Hubert while he's in a meeting with Courbet.

Tropes that appear in this episode:

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Assane is legitimately disturbed that Claire betrayed him, although Benjamin is quick to point out that she did it out of desperation and tipped him off before he could get caught.
  • I Can See You: A non-threatening example — Assane calls Guédira as he's walking out of a cafe. Guédira is startled when he realizes who's calling him, and spits coffee down the front of his shirt. Assane concludes the call as follows:
Assane: Oh, by the way, try cold water.
    Guédira: Cold water?
Assane: The coffee stain on your shirt? Try cold water.
  • Catfishing: Benjamin and Assane set Juliette up on a date with the fictional French-Canadian businessman "Horace Velmont," ostensibly in order to discuss donations to her foundation.
  • Cathartic Crying: Claire breaks down in tears after Pascal and his goons are gone from her apartment.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Juliette's attitude to Assane is basically this. She spends a great deal of time insulting and obsessing over Claire, and even ordering Assane to prove his affections by stealing a bracelet from her.
  • Cool Bike: To help her recapture the adrenaline-fueled days of her youth, Assane takes Juliette on a motorcycle joyride through Paris.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Juliette.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Assane becomes visibly jealous at any mention of Marc, the man that Claire has begun dating.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Juliette shows herself to be rather catty and superficial, but she's also legitimately disgusted when she finds out what Hubert did to Babakar, and urges Anne to report his crimes.
  • Never Be Hurt Again: After the horrors of Raoul's kidnapping, Claire decides that it's best if they don't see Assane ever again, largely out of fear for their safety. Needless to say, Assane is upset by this.
  • Phony Newscast: Assane and Benjamin make one to convince Juliette that a Pissarro painting has been stolen from the Musée d'Orsay. How? By taking a video of the museum's curator discussing the 2019 Notre Dame fire in vague terms and then manipulating the text carousel to contain information on the "missing" painting.
  • Prank Date: Juliette gets Stood Up by the fictional "Horace Valmont," allowing Assane to make his move on her.
  • Revenge by Proxy: When preparing their plan, Assane tells Benjamin that since Hubert Pellegrini went after his son, he'll target Hubert's daughter.
  • Stepford Smiler: When she visits Benjamin at his shop a week after Raoul's kidnapping, Claire cheerfully insists that she and Raoul are doing just fine. For his part, Benjamin seems rather dubious.
  • Using You All Along: Assane's seduction of Juliette is done with the express purpose of turning her against Hubert, and also getting her to convince Anne to come clean to the police about what Hubert was up to in the 1990s.
