"Bugby" is the fifty-seventh episodenote of Lilo & Stitch: The Series. It first aired on August 25, 2005.
Lilo wants to collect bugs for her makeshift bug city Bugopolis, but Stitch just wants to eat them, much to her disapproval. But when a bug-like experiment turns them, Jumba and Pleakley into insects, they need the help of three other bugs to get over to Jumba's ship to return to their normal selves and catch the experiment before an exterminator Nani hired gets them first.
The experiment of the episode:
- Bugby (X-128): A small green insect-like experiment with four purple eyes who is designed to turn populaces into harmless insects.
Tropes featured in this episode include:
- Because You Were Nice to Me: The only reason the bugs didn't gang up on Ant Stitch is because Ladybug Lilo (who has always taken care of them) stood up for him.
- Green Aesop: Bugs are important to our ecosystem.
- Insectoid Aliens: Bugby, who is one himself, turns his fellow aliens Stitch, Jumba, and Pleakley into an ant, stinkbug, and mantis respectively.
- Morphic Resonance: The insectified characters retain their heads and color motifs.
- Mouse World: Bugopolis, which was made by Lilo for the bugs she caught to live at.
- Noodle Incident: Apparently, one of Jumba's previous device ended up causing something that involved a "giant chicken". Whatever it was, Jumba and Pleakley had agreed never to talk about to anyone, and all Pleakley could remember about the experience were "the feathers".
- Oh, Crap!: Jumba has this appropriate reaction when he recognizes Bugby.
- Special Guest: Michael Dorn as Chaps the dung beetle and Will Sasso as Sperk the caterpillar.
