LiveLeak, this ain't.

Steve: I'm sorry, Mr Delkin. I couldn't find a silver bullet to save the comic.
Delkin: That's fine. A regular one will do.

First comic: #401, 2012-02-22

Last comic: #451, 2012-06-15

Author: LTDave

Lightning Made of Owls is unspecified trouble, and Delkin tasks Steve to look for a way to save the comic. Steve turns up unsuccessful, and Delkin tries to shoot him to boost the ratings... but Steve is sent back in time by Ambrose at the last second. To where? The mightiest fortress in history: the Alamo.

Delkin then travels back in time himself and changes history to the one we know now, thus destroying the Alamo (and making bananas yellow, and somehow setting up World War II). However, Ambrose manages to rescue Steve with his time machine. We end on Steve and Ambrose scrunched together in Ambrose's one-person time machine, with Steve relating a terrible pun, to Ambrose's dismay.

Strips:

  1. Save the Comic!
  2. Save the Day!
  3. Silver Bullet
  4. Remember
  5. Alamo-kazam!
  6. Meanwhile... elsewhere in time...

This arc contains examples of:

  • Been There, Shaped History: Delkin was responsible for the Alamo's downfall.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Delkin's motives are explicitly to save Lightning Made of Owls.
  • Godwin's Law of Time Travel: A variant. Delkin's interference with the timeline is what lead World War II to exist at all, somehow.
  • Lame Pun Reaction:
Steve: Want to hear a joke?
    Ambrose: No, not really.
Steve: What do mushrooms sing when they win sporting events?
    Ambrose: I don't care.
    Steve: "We Are the Champignons".
    Ambrose: I... hate you.
  • Literal-Minded: Steve is on a hunt for a "silver bullet" to save the comic — so he wonders whether he should look for a gun shop or a vampire hunting club.
  • Ratings Stunt: Delkin tries to shoot Steve for the ratings boost.
  • Superman Substitute: In the first 2 strips, Steve is this, complete with the ability to fly, the "S" on his shirt, and the undies on the outside.
