- A Day in the Limelight: The episode mostly focuses on Syd's past.
- Breather Episode: ...until The Reveal at the end.
- Mistaken for Pedophile: The story Syd told in season one of body switching into her mom and having sex with her boyfriend is finally shown. It ends with him being dragged of by the police when her real mother (who ended up swapping back just as they got started) finds the two in the shower.
- Not Brainwashed: As revealed half way through the episode Syd knows they're in the maze, remembers who David is and each of her conversations with him and is in control.
- Origins Episode: The episode tells Syd's whole life story before she met David.
- Prolonged Prologue: The opening credits are played during the Twist Ending.
- Shut Up, Kirk!: Syd gives several of these to David as he tries to figure out the purpose of her maze.
- The Dog Bites Back: After being bullied by a bunch of girls for apparently several years, Syd switches bodies with an accompanying boy who was harassing her and beats the crap out of them with his lacrosse stick, letting the boy take the blame after they switch back.
