Summer vacation. Students are leaving home. Kaleb invites MG to spend the summer with his family. MG takes a liking to a girl named Kim, only to learn that she's Kaleb's sister, who demands that MG forget about her. Lizzie is with her mother in Europe, while Josie has stayed behind to watch over their father, who is no longer the headmaster and who she realizes is keeping a secret from her. Landon has also stayed behind to watch over Rafael, who seems to be permanently stuck in wolf form. Landon and Josie get closer and eventually kiss. Meanwhile, Hope is stuck in Malivore but learns from Clarke that her presence there is causing problems for the creature. Hope realizes she failed to destroy Malivore because she's not a full tribrid (she hasn't died yet to activate her vampire side). Clarke offers to work together to find a way out, but Hope figures out that he's lying: Malivore has been trying to expel her, but Clarke has been keeping her there in order to find a way to escape himself. Hope eventually escapes and makes her way to the school only to witness Landon and Josie kiss. She goes to the bus stop and talks to the phantom Landon, realizing that the real Landon is happy and she has no right to change that. Suddenly, she's attacked by what appears to be an ogre. Clarke begs Malivore to allow him to serve it and destroy Hope. A hooded figure casts a spell shaped like the Triad Industries logo, and a portal opens to allow Clarke to leave.
- Big Damn Kiss: Landon kisses Josie after they spend much of the summer together.
- Cannot Tell a Lie: Hope uses a truth spell on Clarke to force him to reveal everything he knows about Malivore and their situation.
- Cement Shoes: Landon does this to himself every night, jumping into the lake with a cement block tied to him. In moments of death, he sees glimpses of Hope but doesn't understand who she is and what it means. He then comes back to life. When Josie learns of this, she points out that Landon doesn't know if he can resurrect an unlimited number of times, so it's pretty stupid to be doing that.
- I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Hope manages to break out of Malivore and goes to the school to see Landon, only to watch him kiss Josie. She realizes he doesn't remember her but can't help but feel betrayed anyway. Still, she refuses to talk to him because he's happy the way he is and she doesn't want to change that.
- Internal Reveal: Josie and Lizzie learn about their crazy uncle, who killed their biological mother on her wedding day as part of the Merge.
- My Sister Is Off-Limits: Kaleb loves MG like a brother... which is why he wants him to stay the hell away from his sister Kim.
- Oh, Crap!: Hope's reaction when she's attacked by an ogre.
- Serious Business: Fourth of July barbecue for Kaleb's family. Kaleb has been trying to beat his uncle for years.
- Title Drop: Landon says the name of the episode regarding Raf being stuck as a wolf. Since he doesn't remember Hope, he couldn't be talking about her.
