As punishment for breaking the rules, Hope, Lizzie, Josie and MG are forced to participate in a community service project in the Mystic Falls town square. Meanwhile, Landon and Rafael's attempt at a carefree life on the road takes a dangerous turn when they become unsuspecting targets. Finally, Alaric realizes that keeping secrets from his students may be causing more harm than good.
- Distant Prologue: We're first shown two warlocks being attacked and killed by a gargoyle during the Middle Ages.
- Our Gargoyles Rock: A gargoyle has infiltrated the mansion and is attacking students in order to find the knife. Apparently, a gargoyle will only attack magic-users, as demonstrated in the Distant Prologue and when the gargoyle leaves Alaric alone.
- Title Drop: Lizzie says the words to a little kid named Pedro after he notices the gargoyle. Lizzie assumes it's other kids moving statues around for fun.
