While Luz is helping to rebuild the castle, Boscha tries to figure out what the deal is with this mysterious human.

- Calling the Old Woman Out: After Camila tries to apologize to Luz, explaining she never told her the truth about her magic in order to protect her, Luz snaps and angrily counters that she doesn't understand how anything her mother did could be considered protecting; Camila constantly tried to stifle Luz's interests in magic, them living on the edge of town made her feel guilty as she believed she did something wrong to cause it, and the lack of any explanation meant she grew up not knowing the reason behind all the incidents that led to both peers and adults to shunning her.
- Chekhov's Gun: After her botched attempt at spying on Gus and Lord Lovelace, the latter gives her a free wish for her troubles. After her investigation ends with her having no memory of the entire weekend, she accidently uses it to summon Lovelace, who restores her memories.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Well, half-witch hybrid. Boscha is revealed to be half-witch/half-demon, with her deceased father being the latter.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: Boscha gets hit with this by Crow after learning Luz is the princess, as an alternative to being killed on the spot. Unfortunately, thanks to the aforementioned Chekhov's gun, said mind wipe is undone just days later.
- Loving Bully: It's all but stated that Boscha is developing a crush on Willow after seeing how powerful the plant mage really is, with the author also updating the story's tags to reflect this development.
- The Reveal: Two of the Royal Guard (Crow and Hawk) are revealed to be older, alternate versions of Willow and Luz, respectively. The former also has a soft spot for Boscha due to having been romantically involved with her own version of the girl and viewing that one's death as her greatest failure.
