Go To

Written By Michael Chernuchin and Julie Martin

Directed By Alex Chapple

The sexual assault case from the previous episode continues as Stone confronts the rapist in court, only for an unexpected verdict to come back and shock everyone. However, this leads to the victim making a tragic decision that results in several deaths and putting himself on trial. A still-reeling Stone decides to charge the boy's rapist for this crime as well to try and gain some form of closure for the victims of the shooting. Meanwhile, Rollins starts having doubts about her pregnancy.

Tropes

  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Benson admits that Sam deserves to go to prison after shooting up his school in spite of his trauma making him snap.
  • Justice by Other Legal Means: After failing to convict John Conway for raping his son in the previous episode, Stone brings him to justice by prosecuting him for criminally negligent homicide in the case of his son's school shooting, arguing that John's A Real Man Is a Killer beliefs radicalised him to commit such crimes.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Having avoided conviction for raping his son in the previous episode, John Conway is convicted of criminally negligent homicide in this episode.
  • Wham Shot: A very literal one as Sam starts off the episode bringing in one of his father's hunting rifles.
