Tropes

  • Abusive Parents: Jim Turner
  • Big Brother Instinct: Adam Turner is pissed to see his younger brother Kyle being charged and facing imprisonment for the Deadly Hazing being ordered by their father, and confronts Jim for letting Kyle taking the fall for it.
  • Deadly Hazing: Subverted. A thirteen-year-old boy dies from an infected injury caused by a sexual assault in the locker room. At first, the team believes it's a hazing, but ultimately find out it was "just" a violent attack.
  • Deliberate Injury Gambit: Adam sets up his phone camera to catch his argument, and subsequent physical fight, with his father. Adam gets severely injured, but the cops get the evidence they need to flip the family and arrest the father.
  • Shout-Out: When the squad gets a potential lead:
Benson: Hey, where are we with these Bang Brothers?
Fin: Bash Brothers. Like McGwire and Canseco.
Carisi: No, like Reed and Portman. (Beat, Benson and Fin look confused) Mighty Ducks 2? Never mind. Anyway, these guys have never been in trouble with the law.
