Under the orders of Ed Tucker and I.A.B, Cassidy goes undercover when fellow NYPD officer Michael Groves is sent to a psych ward after making accusations of embezzlement and covered-up rape allegations against fellow officers. However, one officer has a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, and the squad may have realized too late the amount of danger Cassidy is now in.
This episode provides examples of:
- Cowboy Cop: Tucker leaks Cassidy's status as an undercover IAB cop to the 12th's lieutenant, nearly getting Cassidy killed in the process. He is unrepentant, since he got results.
- Diagnosis: Knowing Too Much: The corrupt cops have a whistleblower committed to a mental hospital to discredit him before he could expose them.
- Honey Trap: Rollins pretends to be intoxicated to get the rapist cops to try and rape her, but they catch on that they are being set up and kidnap Cassidy.
- The Main Characters Do Everything: SVU detectives wind up taking over IAB's business because one of the cases the Corrupt Cops of the 12th might have buried may have been a sexual assault. The SVU detectives and Cassidy lampshade the inappropriateness of this.Benson: These aren't cops. They're rapists.
- One of the Boys: Officer Quinn helps the male cops in her precinct rape intoxicated women. She helps West out because he protected her from a positive drug test.Girls like Quinny, throw them a couple of crumbs, they're so grateful they'll do anything.
- Unfriendly Fire: The rapist cops are about to kill Cassidy and make it look like an unknown perp executed him with his own gun when Benson, Amaro and Tutuola arrive.
- Wham Line: "Munch put his papers in. The Mehcad Carter case hit him pretty hard."
- What the Hell, Hero?: Cragen gives one to Tucker after learning that Tucker put Cassidy in greater danger than he told them about.
